Hammer head screw

the connection for aluminum profiles

A hammerhead bolt is a special type of bolt designed to easily slide into and tighten the slots of aluminum profiles. Thanks to its flat, hammer-shaped head, the bolt clamps securely in the slot without drilling or preparing the profile.
The serrations on the back are also specially designed to break through the anodization layer on anodized profiles, allowing the profile to release its charge under static conditions. This makes hammerhead bolts the standard for mounting accessories, connectors, and components in modular conveyor and profile systems.

What is a hammer head screw?

A hammerhead bolt (often called a slotted bolt, although it's actually a different type of bolt) has a head that fits into the slot of a profile. As soon as you turn the bolt 90 degrees, it locks into the slot. This creates a strong, reliable connection that can be easily loosened or moved.

  • No drilling or tapping required
  • Easy to install with a standard wrench
  • Reusable and flexible
  • Available in various lengths and designs

Applications of hammer head screw

Hammer head screws are used for numerous constructions with aluminium profiles, such as:

  • Installing corner connectors and connectors
  • Attaching plates, panels, or guards
  • Mounting side guides, sensors, or accessories on conveyors
  • Assembling machine frames, racks, or tables

Thanks to their simplicity and reliability, hammer head screws are one of the most widely used fasteners in mechanical engineering, intralogistics and modular systems.

When should you choose a steel or stainless steel hammerhead screw?

Hammer head screws are used for numerous constructions with aluminium profiles, such as:

Hammerhead screws are available in our range in galvanized steel or stainless steel. The galvanized steel version is the most commonly used, as almost all constructions are for indoor applications. Galvanized bolts have a protective zinc layer that provides reasonable protection against corrosion under normal conditions. However, in outdoor applications, where materials are continuously exposed to moisture, weather, and temperature fluctuations, this protection can be compromised over time, leading to rust formation. This limits the lifespan of galvanized bolts in outdoor installations.

For outdoor applications where longer-lasting corrosion protection is required, we generally recommend stainless steel versions. These are more resistant to prolonged exposure to the elements and, in most cases, provide a more durable solution. Hammerhead bolts for ISB profiles

Our ISB profiles are compatible with the ITEM profile system with slot type 5, 6, or 8. For slot types 5 and 6, hammerhead bolts are generally not used, but hammerhead nuts due to the strength/weakness of the bolt, which is too light to create a secure and durable fastening. For profiles with slot type 8, we use M6 or M8 hammerhead bolts in various lengths.

Features of ISB hammerhead bolts:

  • For slot 8 only
  • Thread diameter M6 or M8
  • Suitable for light to medium-heavy construction
  • Not often used in the ISB system
